My youngest daughter and I went to Design Night at RISD (Rhode Island School of Design) this week. We experienced the Teen Intensive and I drank a gin and tonic out of a bag. It reminded me of our New York “art trip” last spring which didn’t start out with that label, but since we went to four art museums in 30 hours, we decided to label it as such. We have a similar energy when In the photo above, at the Frick Collection, we saw an entire room of Turner paintings. I had never been a fan of Turner from art books I’d looked at or prints I’d seen here or there. But seeing the paintings at the Frick, live and in person, felt like meditation. My daughter said, “These are my favorite.” But no photos of Turner paintings allowed.

Next up was the Cooper Hewitt Design Museum. I want to live there.

I got to make the cool building above.
And then the Met. My faves. Especially Chagall.

And the MOMA. But one of the best parts of art trip day was sharing the moment with my daughter when she had her first knish.
